About Us
Our Philosophy
This program is based on the Montessori Philosophy. For the last 75 years this method has achieved success throughout the world. We strive for a positive environment that allows the child to develop independence and self-discipline. This provides the child experiences, which will enrich every child’s cognitive, social-emotional, language, creative and physical development. We achieve the children’s full potential by letting the child work at their own pace. The Montessori environment gives the child both structure and freedom by encouraging exploration of the classroom and allowing the child to choose the area of the classroom that they are most interested in working. Teachers are key to our philosophy by guiding the child and being a positive role model that is nurturing, warm, supportive and responsive to the child.

Our classes are taught by dedicated and experienced educators. Using proven teaching strategies, they make sure that every student finds a path to success.
History of Portside
Portside was opened by two sisters, Melinda & Maureen. They were communting to Davis to work with a philosophy they both loved. The need was growing in West Sacramento so they decided to open one up in West Sacramento. In 2008, Portside opened its doors to the families of West Sacramento and surrounding areas.
